Carne Asada Pretzel Bites for Cinco de Mayo
Make a fresh and fun appetizer for that packs lots of flavor! Carne Asada pretzel bites are perfect for Cinco de Mayo, or any occasion. Serve on Pretzel Crisps® Minis (Regular or Gluten Free) for small bites, or on deli-style Pretzel Crisps® for a mouthful!
1 lb skirt steak
1/2 c olive oil
1/8 c fresh key lime juice
Pretzel Crisps® (Regular or Gluten Free)
Place steak in a plastic storage bag. Pour in olive oil and freshly squeezed key lime juice. Coat each side of meat in salt, pepper, cilantro, minced garlic, and Mexican oregano.
Place bag in refrigerator for a minimum of one hour and up to 24 hours. Remove from fridge and allow to come to room temperature.
Heat a pan on high. Remove steak from liquid and place on pan. Sear one side, then turn over on second side and turn heat down to medium high. Cook until at least 130 degrees, or longer should you desire medium versus medium rare.
Place steak on cutting board and allow to sit for five minutes. Cut into very thin slices. Portion out small bits of steak onto Pretzel Crisps®. Feel free to add a small piece of avocado. If you like it hot, top with a slice of Serrano pepper (only for the brave).
