Edible Chalkboards Snacks
This is an adorable back to school treat. You can make them for class parties, teacher appreciation, back to school celebrations, or just a fun project with the kids for after-school snacks.
Black candy melts
White candy melts
Heat candy melts in a double boiler. You can also melt candy melts in the microwave by placing the candies in a bowl and heating at 15-second intervals at 50% power. Stir in between heating intervals until smooth.
Spread a square of melted black candy melts on Pretzel Crisps®. Make sure the candy melt surface is as smooth and even as possible when spreading. This will make it easier to write on the candy melts. Set to the side.
Place straws in a cup filled with sugar so that the straws stand upright. Scoop melted white candy melts into a sandwich bag. Cut the tip with scissors. Pipe the melted candy melts into the straws until each straw is filled.
Once the candy melts are hard and cool, place in the freezer for 10 minutes. Do not leave them in there too long. Use a wooden skewer or something fine and pointed to push the candy melts out of straws. Break up pieces to shorten them.
Use the white pieces to write on the black surfaces for a chalkboard.
